Woodgate Bears by Sue Whittaker

I am originally from Manchester and much travelled around the U.K. I arrived in East Sussex in 1999.
I have always been interested in craftwork since learning to knit and sew at school. I started making toys in all fabrics, many years ago, for my three children.
My first big project was porcelain dolls, which I made at evening school. These were painted and dressed by me in various fabrics. My first doll, a reproduction A Marque, was made in September 1993.
The next project was when I bought my first Dolls House, in 1996, which I refurbished and decorated including electric lighting. I even tried my hand at making furniture. I then purchased a Tudor Cottage, which I have furnished.
I turned to Teddy Bears in 1998 when I bought my first Steiff Bear in San Diego, California, and subsequently, I started making my own in Mohair and Alpaca but still I can't resist buying bears made by other people.
All my bears are hand made in Mohair, Alpaca, faux fur or synthetic fabric, with suedette or suede paws, glass eyes and either nut and bolt or cotter pin joints. They are stuffed with either fibre fill, glass beads, wood wool, plastic pellets or a combination.
All Bears are priced individually according to size and the material used, and can include Growlers or Musical Movement.

Zara

Zara is made from very pale yellow mohair. She has black glass eyes, suede pads, nut and bolt joints and is stuffed with fibre fill and plastic pellets. She has a straw hat trimmed with a peach coloured feather and small flower on her head.

Patrick

Patrick is made from very dark, almost black short pile mohair and measures 8". He has topaz coloured glass eyes, cashmere pads and ears, wobble pin joints and magnets in his chin, hands and feet to enable him to be posed. He is stuffed with fibre fill and plastic pellets.

Millie

Millie measures 9" and is made from brown mohair. She has suede paws, black glass eyes, nut and bolt joints and is stuffed with fibre fill and plastic pellets. She has bent legs which allow her to either sit or lie down.

Flora

Flora is made from gold coloured sparse mohair. She measures 13". Stuffed with fibre fill and plastic pellets she has charcoal coloured glass eyes, suede pads and nut and bolt joints. She has a pink coloured ribbon around her neck and she carries a wicker basket.

Felicity

Felicity measures 10". She is made from white sparse mohair. Stuffed with fibre fill and plastic pellets, she has black glass eyes, nut and bolt joints and cashmere pads. She has a purple ribbon around her head.

Bobby is a 10" bear made from mink coloured mohair. Stuffed with fibre fill and plastic pellets, he has black glass eyes, nut and bolt joints and suede pads. He has a navy and white woolly hat on his head.
